1.Who we are and what these Terms are

Find With Dennis LLC, a Virginia limited liability company doing business as Find With Dennis ("DENNIS," "we," "us"), operates the DENNIS web app at app.findwithdennis.com, the website at findwithdennis.com, DENNIS+ at plus.findwithdennis.com, the provider directory, and our sponsorship programs (together, the "Service").

These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") are a contract between you and DENNIS. By creating an account, checking a box that says you agree, or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2.What DENNIS is, and what it is not

2.1 DENNIS is a community coordination tool. It lets a guardian or an enrolled adult report that a person is missing or in crisis, and it notifies nearby community members and participating first responders who have chosen to help. It shows maps, areas of concern with how many searchers have claimed each one, and messages between participants.

2.3 DENNIS does not employ, supervise, or control volunteers, helpers, or responders. They are independent members of the public or of their own organizations, and they take part for their own reasons, without pay or reward from DENNIS. DENNIS does not recruit, screen, background-check, sponsor, pay for, insure, or manage volunteers. Volunteers join DENNIS through organizations that screen and support their own members: search and rescue teams, community search groups, public agencies, and Community Search Network, an independent nonprofit for neighbors who aren't part of another group. Any verification badge means only what Sections 9, 11 and 12 say it means.

2.4 Information in the Service, including hazard locations, suggested areas of concern, directions, travel estimates, and weather, comes from public and third-party sources that may be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. It is provided to inform your own judgment, not to direct you.

3.Current status: testing

3.1 DENNIS is in a testing phase. Sign-up for the DENNIS app is by invitation only. Testers help us find broken links, confusing screens, and problems, and they send us questions and suggestions. During this phase no real search for a real person is run through DENNIS.

3.2 Testers must use test profiles only. Do not enter information about a real person you care for, a real medical condition, or a real location tied to a real person while you are testing.

3.3 During testing, volunteers do not need to be cleared by an organization. Before DENNIS opens to the public, that requirement begins (Section 12). At that time, testing accounts keep their accounts but receive live alerts only once an organization clears them.

3.4 Drills and exercises are labeled "TRAINING EXERCISE" on every notification and screen. Never treat a drill as a real emergency, and never treat a real emergency as a drill.

3.5 Features may change, pause, or be removed during testing. DENNIS may end the testing phase or any part of the Service at any time.

4.Who may use the Service

4.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. A parent or guardian may create a profile for a minor in their care. Children do not hold accounts.

4.2 Every profile has an owner: a family member, the adult themselves, a court-appointed guardian or conservator, a public guardian program, the caseworker of an agency with legal custody, or an agent under a power of attorney that covers personal or health decisions. The owner confirms they have legal authority to create the profile and to report the person missing. Guardians, guardian programs, agencies, and power of attorney agents must also upload documents showing that authority; DENNIS keeps them encrypted, logs every access, and never shows them to anyone searching. Until DENNIS has reviewed those documents, the owner can build the profile but cannot start a volunteer search or an Assistance Alert. Calling 911 is never blocked.

4.3 A volunteer must be 18 or older. Once DENNIS opens to the public, a volunteer receives alerts only while an organization that vouches for its members shows them as cleared (Section 12).

4.4 Responder accounts are given only to people DENNIS has individually approved as members of a public-safety, search-and-rescue, or emergency-medical organization. Approval may be withdrawn at any time.

5.Accounts and roles

5.1 You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for everything done under your account. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone used your account without permission. Keep your information accurate; a wrong photo or description can send searchers looking for the wrong person.

5.2 Guardian: creates and maintains profiles for people in their care and may start an alert. Self-enrolled adult: creates their own profile and chooses who may report them missing; searches for them are led by responders, and the person who reported them is told only what the adult consents to. Volunteer: chooses to receive alerts, picks a participation level on each alert, and chooses whether and where to search. Responder: an approved public-safety, search-and-rescue, or EMS member who may take command of a search in their own area. Facility or school: a care location that a profile's owner has linked to the profile. It may start a search from its own address under its own procedures. It never creates, edits, or supplies a profile, and the owner can end the link at any time. Organization admin: a person an organization names to mark its own members cleared or revoked in the Service.

6.Starting an alert

By starting an alert you confirm that:

• you believe in good faith that the person is missing or in crisis;
• the profile information, photo, and description are accurate to the best of your knowledge;
• you understand that DENNIS does not contact 911 or any emergency service for you, and that you may contact them at any time;
• you understand that volunteers and helpers are members of the public acting on their own judgment, not agents of DENNIS; and
• you understand that DENNIS cannot guarantee any response or outcome.

6.1 Honest mistakes are protected. If you start an alert believing in good faith that someone is missing or in crisis, and they turn out to be safe, you have done nothing wrong. DENNIS will never penalize a false alarm made in good faith. Never delay starting a search because you are afraid of being wrong.

6.2 Knowingly false alerts are prohibited. You may not start an alert you know to be false, or start one to harass, frighten, mislead, or waste the time of anyone. Doing so is grounds for immediate suspension or termination. DENNIS may preserve the account and alert records involved and may share them with law enforcement in response to lawful process, or where DENNIS believes in good faith the conduct may violate the law. A knowingly false alert may carry civil or criminal consequences under applicable law.

6.3 Review signals never block a search. DENNIS uses automated signals to prompt a person on our team to look at an account or search, for example a new account that starts a search right away, many accounts created from one device or connection, a volunteer's report that a search "looks off," or a pattern of quick searches that end without the person being found safe. These signals never block, delay, or cancel an alert.

7.Volunteer acknowledgment of risk

This section applies to every volunteer, helper, and responder. It is shown in full when you register and in short form on every alert you accept, and each acceptance is recorded with the time, alert, level, and version of these Terms.

7.1 Searching is dangerous. By registering, and again each time you accept an alert, you acknowledge that you understand and voluntarily accept risks that can cause serious injury or death, including:

• moving water, ponds, pools, storm drains, wells, and unstable banks;
• roads, highways, railways, and traffic, including at night;
• cliffs, drop-offs, ravines, loose rock, dense brush, swamps, construction sites, and abandoned structures;
• heat, cold, lightning, flood, darkness, and poor visibility;
• animals, insects, plants, and disease;
• exhaustion, dehydration, falls, and medical conditions made worse by exertion;
• other people, including people who may be dangerous, and the possibility that a report is false or made in bad faith;
• a person who is frightened, non-verbal, or reacts unpredictably when approached; and
• errors or gaps in the maps, hazard data, directions, and messages the Service shows you.

7.2 You decide. Nothing in the Service is an order. A suggested area of concern, a request from a responder, a hazard marker, or a message is information and a request. You alone decide whether, where, and how to search, and you may stop at any time. Do not enter water, cross a road against traffic, enter a structure, or go anywhere you judge unsafe, whatever the Service or any person suggests.

7.2a Claiming an area. The map shows areas of concern and how many people have claimed each one, so you can see the areas nobody is searching yet. You may claim an area to let others know you are searching it, release it at any time, or search near the last place the person was seen without claiming anything. When an area has as many searchers as it needs, it shows as full and you can choose another. If you claim an area and do not head toward it, the Service may remind you and then release it so others can see it is open. Some areas, such as water, rail, and highways, and some areas after dark, are offered only to searchers qualified for them.

7.2b Requests and leaving. A responder or the person leading the search may ask you to check a place, stop, stay where you are, or stand down. A request to check a place is a request; you may answer that you will go or that you can't, and either answer is fine. Instructions to stop, stay put, protect a clue, or stand down are there to keep you safe and protect the search, so follow them. You may leave a search at any time when it is safe to do so; if a responder has asked you to stay where you are for your safety, stay until they clear you.

7.3 How you travel is your choice. DENNIS never assigns a way of traveling and never asks you to drive. Directions are given as if you were walking. If you choose to use a car, bicycle, ATV, boat, drone, animal, or any other means, you do so at your own risk and responsibility, you must follow all laws (including traffic, aviation, and boating rules), and you must not use your phone while driving.

7.4 You are a spotter, not a rescuer. Your role is to look and report. Do not attempt a rescue, restraint, or physical intervention unless you are trained and equipped and decide on your own judgment that it is necessary to prevent imminent serious harm.

7.5 Your fitness and equipment are your responsibility. You confirm you are physically able to do what you choose to do, that you will bring appropriate clothing, light, water, and a way to communicate, and that you will not take part under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

7.6 Assumption of risk. Knowing all of this, you choose to take part voluntarily and you accept the risk of injury, illness, property damage, or death arising from your participation, including risks caused by conditions, other people, other volunteers, and the accuracy or inaccuracy of information in the Service. DENNIS does not supervise you in the field and cannot protect you from these risks.

7.7 Nothing in this section asks you to give up any claim that applicable law does not allow you to give up.

8.Volunteer conduct and levels

8.1 Act only within the level you chose. Follow lawful instructions of police and responders on scene. Contact the family only through the Service. Do not post, share, or keep any photo, name, or location from an alert outside the Service. Do not approach, touch, or transport a located person unless police, EMS, or the guardian on scene asks you to; report the sighting and stay in view.

8.2 Any attempt to remove, transport, or isolate a person, any contact with a person that is not reported in the Service, or any other conduct DENNIS considers unsafe or suspicious results in immediate suspension and may be reported to law enforcement.

8.3 On every alert you choose one level, for that alert only:

• Level 1, Stationary Spotter: you stay where you are and report what you see.
• Level 2, Mobile Searcher: you may move to look, and you accept every risk in Section 7 for that alert.
• Level 3, Certified Searcher or Responder: only for people whose search-and-rescue or first-responder credential DENNIS has verified. DENNIS verifies credentials issued by others; it does not train or certify searchers.

8.4 Any short awareness module DENNIS provides is not a search-and-rescue certification.

9.Assistance Alerts

9.1 An Assistance Alert lets a family ask nearby helpers to offer help during a crisis that is not a disappearance. Helpers are approved first responders and licensed or certified professionals whose credentials DENNIS has verified, and they are asked only for the situations they have told DENNIS they are trained for. The family chooses whether to accept any offer.

9.2 Verification means only that DENNIS reviewed the helper's responder approval, license, or certification as of the date of review. It is not a guarantee of quality, competence, or fitness for any situation. Helpers act independently and on their own professional judgment. DENNIS does not employ helpers, does not provide medical, behavioral, or clinical services, and does not set the scope of what a helper does.

9.3 A helper must not restrain, transport, or give medication to the person, and must call 911 if there is a risk of physical harm. If no helper responds, the app will remind you that you can contact 911.

10.DENNIS+

10.1 DENNIS+ is not open to new members at this time. You may join a list to be told when it opens. We use that email only for that purpose (see the Privacy Policy).

10.2 When DENNIS+ opens, its price, billing period, automatic renewal, and how to cancel will be shown to you before you pay, and you will be asked to agree to them. Those membership terms will be added to these Terms at that time.

10.3 DENNIS+ is an organizer. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice. Guides in DENNIS+ collect guidance published by others, and that content belongs to them. Ending or never having DENNIS+ never affects your DENNIS account or the free safety features.

11.Provider directory

11.1 The directory lists businesses and professionals. A listing is not an endorsement or a referral, and DENNIS does not guarantee any provider's work. Choose and check any provider yourself.

11.2 A Self-certified badge means the provider told us they have working experience with neurodivergent individuals. A Verified badge means the provider gave us a license for their specialty that we reviewed before the badge appeared, as of the date we reviewed it. Neither badge is a guarantee of quality, safety, or fitness.

11.3 Providers who buy a listing agree that listing fees are paid for the full term chosen, are non-refundable, and that cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term. Licensed providers appear only where they say they are licensed and are responsible for the accuracy of what they tell us.

12.Verification and screening: who does what

12.1 DENNIS verifies credentials, not backgrounds. When a license, certification, responder approval, organization, or facility is added to the Service, DENNIS checks that it is legitimate. A "Verified" badge means only that DENNIS reviewed it as of the date shown. DENNIS does not run background checks on volunteers, does not order or receive background check reports about them, and charges volunteers no screening fee.

12.2 Your organization screens you. Volunteers are screened and supported by the organization they join through: a search and rescue team, a community search group, a public agency, or Community Search Network. Each organization sets its own screening and decides whether its members are cleared. An organization admin may mark a member cleared or revoke that status in the Service. DENNIS stores only which organization you belong to and your cleared status and its date, never the content of any background report.

12.3 Community Search Network is an independent nonprofit organization. It is not part of Find With Dennis LLC. Its own terms govern its intake, screening, sponsorships, and support of its members.

12.4 Once DENNIS opens to the public, a volunteer receives alerts only while at least one organization that vouches for its members shows them as cleared. A cleared or verified status is not a guarantee of character, competence, or safety.

12.5 DENNIS may ask you to confirm your identity before you use certain features. DENNIS does not run facial recognition of its own and does not keep biometric templates. Face or fingerprint sign-in stays on your own device.

13.Location, content, and photos

13.1 The Service uses your device location to match you to nearby alerts and, during an alert you joined, to show your position to the people coordinating that search. You can turn location off; if you do, you will not be alerted to nearby searches.

13.2 You give DENNIS a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use content you submit (profile details, sighting reports, photos, messages) to operate the Service. DENNIS will not use a photo of a person from a profile or sighting in advertising, fundraising, or promotion without written consent from that person or, for a minor, their guardian.

13.3 Submit a photo only if you took it lawfully. Photos have their location data removed and are kept as described in the Privacy Policy.

13.4 Everything on a profile except the medical note goes to every person searching, from the moment a search starts and only while it is active. The medical note goes out only if the profile's owner chooses to share it during that search, and the owner can withdraw it at any time. Volunteers, responders, and helpers all receive the same information. DENNIS keeps a record of who could see what, and when, and that record is part of the search record given to the responding agency.

13.5 While you are part of a search, the Service may record the path you searched so the people coordinating can see which ground has been covered. Other volunteers see covered ground without names; responders and the person leading the search can see who searched where. The Privacy Policy explains how long this is kept.

14.Sponsorships

Businesses and individuals may sponsor Find With Dennis LLC in exchange for recognition, such as visibility and credit on our website, on social media, and at events. A sponsorship supports DENNIS; it is not a sponsorship of any volunteer. Sponsors do not pay for, screen, insure, or direct volunteers, have no say in any search, and receive no access to user data. Volunteer screening sponsorships are handled by Community Search Network, an independent nonprofit, under its own terms. Find With Dennis LLC is a for-profit company, not a 501(c)(3) charity, and sponsorships are not tax-deductible charitable donations. Each sponsorship has a term, and its recognition is described where you buy it or in a written sponsorship agreement. Sponsors are official sponsors, not partners or owners. Every sponsorship payment is a final sale and is not refunded. A yearly sponsorship can be cancelled at any time; it stays in place through the last day of the year paid for and is not charged again.

15.Disclaimers and limits on liability

15.1 THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DENNIS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. DENNIS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ALERTS WILL BE DELIVERED, THAT VOLUNTEERS WILL RESPOND, THAT MAPS OR HAZARD DATA ARE CORRECT, OR THAT ANY PERSON WILL BE FOUND.

15.2 TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DENNIS AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF VOLUNTEERS, HELPERS, RESPONDERS, PROVIDERS, GUARDIANS, OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES, OR FROM RELIANCE ON INFORMATION IN THE SERVICE. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DENNIS'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID DENNIS IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

15.3 Some places do not allow certain limitations. There, DENNIS's liability is limited to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited by law.

15.4 DENNIS does not insure volunteers, helpers, responders, or guardians, and does not provide accident, medical, disability, or workers' compensation coverage to any participant unless a written program document says otherwise. Organizations may insure their own members under their own programs.

16.Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DENNIS and its owners, officers, contractors, and agents from claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, your conduct during a search or response, any knowingly false or bad-faith alert you raise, or content you submit.

17.Suspension and termination

DENNIS may suspend or end any account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct DENNIS considers unsafe, dishonest, or against these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account screen or by writing to [email protected]. Sections 7, 15, 16, 18, and 19 continue after termination.

18.Governing law, disputes, and class waiver

18.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

18.2 Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in Fairfax County, Virginia, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. YOU AND DENNIS WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO TAKE PART IN A CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

18.3 You may opt out of arbitration by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the subject "Arbitration opt-out." If you opt out, disputes will be heard only in the state or federal courts in Fairfax County, Virginia.

19.General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and DENNIS about the Service. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. DENNIS may update these Terms; material changes take effect 14 days after notice in the Service or by email, and continued use means you accept them. You may not transfer these Terms; DENNIS may transfer them to a successor.

Payments, refunds, and cancellation. Every payment to DENNIS is a final sale and is not refunded, including for part of a period. Anything you pay for on a schedule can be cancelled at any time. It continues through the end of the period you paid for (for a yearly term, the last day of the year paid for; for a monthly term, the day before your monthly renewal date), and you are not charged again.

20.Contact
